How to Cut the Cost But Not the Fun in Your Next Travel – Travel reviews

So you love to travel but don’t exactly have the big bucks to splurge on what you might think are necessities. This article hopes to give you some helpful tips and pointers to reduce your expenses but not your fun. First things first, PLAN AHEAD. Someone once said “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” That is so true when it comes to traveling. Just by planning ahead and working out your traveling period ahead of time you can save a lot of money. Below are 10 tips to help you in your cost reduction process:-1. If possible plan your travel at least 2 – 3 months in advance. You will usually be able to get better rates for airfare and accommodation if you book them early.2. Don’t pack in your whole house. Seriously, some of the stuff you think you might need, you don’t really need at all. Leave the picture of your dog at home! Travel light. Not only will you save on having to pay for excess baggage, it will be easier for you to move around. You will most likely be buying some souvenirs. You need space for that.3. Opt for a bed and breakfast or a backpackers’ inn instead of a hotel. Some of these places are quite decent, really. Be sure to check them out at travel review sites such as tripadvisor.com4. If breakfast is included with your stay, eat in and eat heartily. There’s no reason to go out and pay for a meal unless there’s a local delicacy you’re dying to try out. Most of the time, especially in Asia, the local delicacies are the street vendors. Leave the fancy expensive restaurants alone.5. When eating out, order water instead of a juice or soft drink. Besides it being healthier, you save money too.6. It would be helpful to stock up on some ready to eat food such as energy bars, instant noodles, bread, etc. from the nearest grocery store or supermarket instead of popping into a restaurant every time the hunger pang strikes. Pack a sandwich when going for day trips.7. When shopping, go where the locals go. Learn the art of haggling. You’d be surprised how much you can save. Often times, prices are marked up just for tourists. If possible, have a local friend with you to assist with the haggling.8. As much as possible, travel by public transport, avoid taking cabs or taxis as they cost a lot more. Most cities would have tourist information centres where you would be able to obtain information about these services. Walking is good too, that way you really get to experience the place.9. When sight-seeing, try to go to places where you don’t have to pay. Ask the operator of your hotel or inn for advice on these places. If you need to go for a paid tour or sight-seeing attraction, it will be helpful for you to make friends with other tourists and form a group. Some establishments do offer group discounts.10. Last but not least, you can say “NO”. Don’t always feel you have to buy something or take up a tour offer if you do not wish to. That is your right as a tourist!

African Wildlife Travel – 7 Tips For Testing If Your African Safari Operator is Reliable – Travel reviews

Booking a Kenyan safari was relatively easy when safari travel market was dominated by a few wholesale safari operators. All you had to do was visit your preferred travel agent’s office or ask for a brochure by post. You booked your safari in deep trust that your travel agent had carefully vetted the African operator who will handle you on the ground. The whole safari travel supply chain had in-built checks and balances which in most cases were legally bidding. The traveler came out the winner except in the area of safari prices, which were astronomical as each level had to add their profit margins. There are many local Africa safari operators in the internet making the price of safaris to be much better than what you’d pay to an agent in your country. The disadvantage is that the responsibility of vetting the operator rests on you and should you fail to do due diligence, you suffer the consequences. Many websites will promise you the best African safari but consider that a website can’t guarantee credibility. It would be a mistake if you made your booking decision just on how a website looks.Don’t take comfort that if things go wrong you can seek legal recourse. The truth is, if your African safari doesn’t go right you can’t get a fair compensation for the time lost, emotions ruined and the shear frustration that comes with it.Though your African travel will possibly last 10 -13 days, its effect is going to be long term. Therefore do your research as you would for other long term and important issues such as buying a house or choosing your child’s school. Ask all relevant questions and then make informed decisions. This has to be before paying for your safari travel and not after. These easy to follow 7 tips are a sure way of determining if your African safari operator is up to scratch:1) Get to know the real people in the organization. Don’t deal with “About Us”, which is too vague. Assuming the operator is a small local company, why should he not reveal his identity?2) Do your research as though money is not a problem. This widens the pool of the operators whose resumes you’d want to consider and you avoid being locked-up with African safari operators with doubtful reputations. Then narrow down the candidates to suit your budget.3) Check how long the African travel operator has been in operation – this will help you avoid the here-today-gone-tomorrow operators. While there is no rule that the new operators are doubtful, you must see that you don’t become the safari company’s experimental client.4) Does the African safari operator have the expertise for your specific needs? If he can’t directly supply your needs, this should be a red flag.5) What do the safari travel reviews say about him? Trust the grapevine – if your African safari operator is up to scratch you will hear it in forums and trip advisory portals. Watch out for out-dated, self-authored trip reports and unverifiable client comments. Insist on calling a past client, which is a more credible verification method.6) Membership in fee-paying tourism associations. While these bodies have noble ideas, there must be reasons why they have a disclaimer in their members list. Read and respect the disclaimer. Don’t let your guard down just because African safari operator appears in every fee-paying body. Finally and very crucial, place a call to the safari operator. Switch on your detective radar, listen carefully between his words and try to match them with info in his web site and from emails.By the end of the call, it will be very clear if you should book with that African safari operator. Now that you know how to vet your African travel operator, hit the keyboard for the right African safari and the security of knowing that no nasty surprises await you when you land in Africa.

Finding Unique and Exotic Travel Deals Right Here in the US – Travel reviews

For the larger travel web sites; travel deals are generated when they purchase airfare seats, hotels and rental cars in bulk and then resale to the general public at reduced rates. The same holds true for discounted cruise deals and hot vacation spots. He who has the cash flow to purchase travel in bulk do extremely well in the resale. However, there is another travel deal that is generated consistently that the general public usually is not aware of. This is the travel deals created by the smaller resorts and off the beaten path travel spots. With any purchase of sight unseen you run the risk of the vacation NOT being what you expected. You can be fairly sure that your accommodations will be as advertised when you purchase from the large travel web sites. This leads us to why the “travel review” sites are so popular. You can go to any of these sites and read what other traveler’s have written about the destination you are interested in visiting. This leads us to another concern for the independent traveler; unless you know exactly where it is you want to travel you may never know about the exciting, wonderful, beautiful, inexpensive, travel deals throughout the world that have been totally safe for Americans in the past.Getting small private resorts, travel agents and travel suppliers to be consistent with their marketing efforts has not proven successful. In the pass their ad campaigns have been hit and miss, now and then. Unless a cash flow rich travel agency decides to promote one of these small and unique travel destinations in the San Francisco Chronicle or the New York Times; the general public may never know of the hidden travel spots.Yes, this is a time when we must be extremely aware of our surroundings, regardless of what county we are in; but we don’t have to leave the US to find really nice exotic places alone the Eastern seaboard or the hidden islands and coast line off the southern states here in the US.Travel Agents receive press releases and flyers on remolded, inexpensive, small, out of the way resorts, via their fax lines all the time. Its one thing for them to receive this information and another for them to promote them. And why should they? Good business persons promote that which will increase their income! And many of travelers go to the larger travel sites for vacation packages. So for the independent traveler who wants more from his/her travel experience – research is the key. You don’t have to leave the US to find new and exciting places to travel — However, you do have to take the time to find them.

Travel Business Opportunity from Home – Travel reviews

Starting any business opportunity requires research, information, contingency planning, marketing plan and finding out if this will be a good business for you. However, when it comes to a business at home, it may appear easy at first, but it does entail some of the same criteria mentioned. Not every business opportunity will succeed in a home environment. Some businesses require stocking products and unless you have space in your home to do so, it can present problems for you. Also proper zoning has to be considered when it comes to selling products from your home. In the case of a travel business opportunity from home, there are no products to stock and this can be very lucrative since so many people are traveling. You must find out who your customers will be for your travel business besides only your friends and family. You must look outside of your general circle or you will exhaust those resources and business can then get very slow for you.Use the Internet to do research on travel patterns, where customers would congregate and who are the frequent travelers. You can find some information in forums. Search for “travel forums” and this will give you a good feel for your prospective customer’s needs and where to find them. Travel review sites are also a good place to start your investigation. These sites offer good information on what travelers are seeking and where they go to hang out.Another thing to consider is your availability to your customers. Do not engage in a homebased travel business opportunity if you will not be accessible by phone or email to your customers. People want to know that you will be there when they need you. Always return phone calls or answer the phone and provide the assistance needed. Even if you have an online travel agency, be available for questions, comments and help of any kind.Make sure you also learn about your different products although they may be intangible. Travel to different destinations yourself, so that you can recommend or advise your clients. Target a specific category that you can offer to your customers. For example, at certain times of the year, you will be able to sell more cruises than at other times or you may be able to sell discounted vacation packages that your clients don’t know about. Finding out about these products can greatly enhance your business. Visit hotels and do a property inspection for your customers. The hotels will give you a special rate or a free room just for checking them out to bring new customers.Be passionate about your business and it will return the favor to you. Your customers will also be able to see your passion and it will rub off on them also. Travel is a good business. You can meet great people who want to fun while you make a fortune helping them. This can be a very rewarding experience for someone who also loves to travel and want to earn money helping others with their travel needs.

You sell packages and earn commissions-it is as simple as that!Global Travel International was started in 1994 by Randy Warren and Michael Gross who wanted to start a travel agency that was not bound to a brick and mortar office the way most travel agencies are. They wanted to build a business that could easily be made into an international franchise and help travel agents learn how to use web based technologies to benefit travelers as well as the agencies that cater to them. Thanks to Global Travel International, travel agents both new and seasoned have a resource to help them learn how to take advantage of web-based travel booking, web-based marketing tools and web-based business support. You then also earn commissions off of the sales they make. This company also offers a fourteen day money back guarantee on the money you put forth to enter the program. The only draw back we can see for signing up for the program is that we couldn’t find anything that states how much it costs to get started with the company. Other than the fact that the start up capital isn’t stated clearly, we can’t see any reason why you shouldn’t sign up to be a member of Global Travel International and start taking advantage of the plenty of membership benefits offered by the company.Overall, this multi level marketing opportunity looks like a very straightforward program. Sign up, sell packages and earn commissions. You also earn a commission for each person you refer to the Global Travel International income opportunity. While there is no prominent information on how often agents are paid or how much it costs to start up, it would be nice if other MLM opportunities were this easy to understand.

The Time Traveler’s Wife – Book Review – Travel reviews

The book The Time Travelers Wife, which is written by Audrey Niffenegger is a book about time traveling and love. The book is about Claire and Henry who meet in her field when she is young. The difference between Claire and Henry is that Henry can time travel and Claire cannot go back in time. Henry has been time traveling since the age of five when he was in an accident with his mom who dies in the accident. Claire waits for Henry and accepts that Henry travels through time and they get married.Claire’s love for Henry is very strong in this book because she is always going about doing her everyday business and waiting for Henry to come back from his time traveling. The couple eventually have a child whose name is Alba. Alba can time travel too like her father and this is an advantage that Alba has over Claire because she can see her father when she time travels unlike her mom who cannot do this. The time traveling that Henry does finally take a toll on him. Henry eventually has to have his legs amputated because he gets frostbite on his feet. He eventually dies from being shot when he goes back in time. Claire is thirteen years old when Henry is shot by deer hunters because he cannot run. Claire is 38 years old when Henry dies. Claire, Alba, family and friends are there when Henry dies on the floor in Claire and Alba’s house. This is a book that is told in journal form by Henry and Claire which has plots that are tight and the story is told in a way that makes it very interesting to read. Love and science fiction are blended in the book. I did not think I would like this book because of the way the book is told in journal form by Claire and Henry but I was surprised. The book engaged me all the way through while reading it.This book is a very engaging, good book and a book that makes you feel like you are right there with Claire and Henry as you read the book. Niffenegger’s book weaves together fiction and love between two people that can withstand time. Be prepared to have a tissue at the end of the book because the end of the book is a tear jerker.

Timeshares Reviews – Travel reviews

For years people have used timeshares for their vacation needs. This is great if you are the type of person who go to the same place every year for your vacation. But if you like to travel around then it may not be for you. Some people use them as an investment opportunity. Do you think that is wise? Timeshares do come with their set of problems. Let’s look at the timeshare reviews to see if this is a good idea.To make the most use or your timeshares you must use it every year. Missing just one year will cost you thousands of dollars. If you can’t use your time for that year then you better find a way to rent your timeshare out to someone else to make up your investment. Good luck finding somebody to take over your time. The chances of you find someone who wants to go to that specific location for their vacation will be slim unless you take out an expensive ad.If you are lucky to find someone then you just become a temporary landlord. You will need to make sure that they do no harm to your property to keep up its value. Make sure you have an agreement signed ahead of time to protect you from any disagreements that might come up.Then their is the problem of a your timeshare becoming damaged in any way. You will get stuck paying a portion of the repair cost. That could lead to thousands of dollars. Even if nothing happens to your timeshare you will still lose value on it after you buy in. Most people only get about half of what they spent when they try to sell their portion. So do your research first on that timeshare to see how the value has held up over the years. If you are using it for personal use and don’t want to be stuck going to the same place year after year then you are better off just renting a vacation home. You will have the luxury of traveling to different locations and enjoying a new place every year.So I hoped you enjoyed out timeshares reviews. In my opinion, unless you have a favorite destination that you really enjoy going to constantly then don’t bother with timeshares. You will find that you are better off just getting a hotel for your next vacation.

Travel Insurance – Essential Cover For Everyone – Travel reviews

The most common reason that people take out travel insurance is to protect their luggage from theft or the airlines losing it. What people often overlook is the necessity of having a travel insurance policy that comprehensively covers them for medical emergencies.Smartraveller.gov.au gives some examples of costs: hospitalisation in South East Asia can exceed $800 per day; return of remains from europe can cost $10,000; medical evacuations from the USA can cost up to $300,000 and from nearby Bali has exceeded $60,000.Those numbers should hurt because if you had to pay them without holiday insurance you may end up financially crippled. Luckily it is fairly easy to take out a good insurance plan that covers your overseas medical expenses. In Australia it is mandatory for travel insurance companies to provide you with a Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) prior to purchase. A PDS outlines what the policy covers including what their will pay for certain incidents and any if there are any particular terms and conditions attached. If you are suffering a pre-existing medical condition then make sure you are still eligible.Since all the major Australian travel insurance companies operate online sales it is very easy to compare the cover. Some of the main companies are: 1 Cover, AAMI, Allianz, Columbus Direct, Insure4Less, iTrek, Travel Insurance Direct and World Nomads. You can find them and more through your favorite search engine.Once you are at their website just look for the PDS. It will usually be on the quote and product pages. Open it up and don’t be alarmed at how confusing it can look, just scroll to the large table with the dollar values in it. Make sure the sections labeled Medical Expenses or Medical Evacuation or similar are unlimited or in the millions. Other useful cover is for lost or stolen luggage, cancellation, delays, cash, credit cards, liability, and dental.Get a quote for the ones that meet this criteria. Choose the company offering the lowest premium that you trust. Reading online reviews can be very helpful at this stage. Best of luck with your travels and hopefully nothing goes wrong.
